Rafa in Rome

Rafa recaptures his fourth Rome title to be two Master Series titles behind Andre Agassi's record of 17. He's going to plow through everyone at the French Open to beat Bjorn Borg's record of four in the open era. CAN'T WAIT!

Is that even possible?!

You tell him Derek.

Yankees' normally consistent ace Chieng-Ming Wang has a unbelievable ERA of 34.50 in three starts. I thought they misspoked when I first heard it on Sportscenter. I feel bad for the guy but am secretly gleeful that he's a Yankee.

They heard my desperate plea...

...and were down by 4 runs in the 7th ONLY TO COME BACK WITH SEVEN RUNS IN THE 8TH!!! WHOOO WHOOO! A grand slam AND hitting for the cycle threw Jason Kubel into Minnesota Twins' history of awesomeness. We are not worthy.

The bullpen that brings tears to your eyes...

Dear Minnesota Twins,

Please stop losing.

Thanks.

John Madden Retires

This is one of the saddest days of my life. I grew up listening to John on Sundays and then Mondays. Love him or hate him, no one loves the game more than he does. The man is a football institution. Let's remember some of the best Maddenisms:

"You never want to go backwards in the endzone."

“When your arm gets hit, the ball is not going to go where you want it to.”

"He would have scored a touchdown if he hadn't been tackled right there."

"The team with the most points at the end of the game is the winner."

"What they want to do is score a touchdown here."

"Now this next play they're either gonna run the ball or pass the ball."...on 1st and 10

Al: "John, what do the Vikings need to do to get back into this game? "

John: "Well Al, to get back into this game...Daunte Culpepper and the Vikings have to get back into this game. "

"To get more yards, it's best to move the ball from the line of scrimmage down the field."

"If the quarterback throws the ball in the endzone and it is caught, that's gonna be a touchdown."

And let's not forget his man-crush on his beloved Brett Favre...

"I always said that if you were going to make a monument to the NFL it would be the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field. I think that changed to, “Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers.”

You're an icon John, we'll miss you.

congratulations, you're almost 30!

happy birthday, coach. please know i'd always pick you for my team.

Failure is a miserable feeling

The Twins' offense is like an action potential: all or nothing. 12 runs or no run. Let's spread it around boys. I miss Joe Mauer. I hope his running program is going well.
